Ett mångsidigt tält med många möjligheter - Del 1 Adventuretält

A tent from Tentipi is a Nordic tipi and the tent has eight or nine sides, if it is not the smallest that has six sides. In the smallest tent you can stand straight if you are less than 160 centimetres long and in the largest you can get together several thousand people. The tent is versatile in more ways. Continue to read to see why these tents are so flexible and adaptable. This blog post is about the smaller tents in Tentipi's range, tents used by adventurers, families, hikers and others who want to live close to nature for a shorter or longer period of time.

The tent has a long history as a home for people who moved with their grazing animals to different places, all year round. Here in Scandinavia, it was the Sami who moved with the reindeer herds and took their homes with them. Elsewhere, around the world, there have been Indians who followed their prey and lived in their tipi. Asian nomads lived in portable yurts and followed their livestock to new pastures. The homes one brought with oneself have been developed over the centuries and today's movable homes have features of yesterday's, but are made of modern materials and with the manufacturing methods we have in our time. What we can be sure of is that the homes are well-tried and the details that have been most important for sustainability, safety and homeliness are preserved and further developed thanks to stories about how people lived. This is how history shows modern people how to use a home in the wilderness.

A nomadic tent could be pitched and taken down in a short time to be able to quickly protect those who lived there. The Adventure tents from Tentipi have a central pole as a load-bearing shaft and combined with seams and reinforcement details, which are parts of the tent frame, the central pole make it possible to pitch the tent in a few minutes. When you have done it a couple of times, it takes no more than three minutes. That is also true when the wind is strong because the tent fabric is first anchored with ground pegs and then you raise the tent with the central pole that is put into its sleeve at the top and placed in the middle of the “tent floor” — the place you have decided for your tent. It is possible to use the tent without assembling a floor in it, but you can also have a floor or an inner tent to get extra protection against insects.

Because the tent is symmetrical and is widest at the bottom, it is resistant to winds, which usually have a lower speed along the ground. The top of the tent does not have such a large area for the wind to catch. This cone-shaped tent body also means that raindrops run off the tent fabric in a good way and to be sure that the tent fabric withstands rain, we test every fifth tents during manufacture.

The shape of the tent makes the ventilation outstanding. Air enters from below and exits through the top opening where there is an adjustable cap. You regulate the cap using the cords that are connected next to the central pole or attached to the tent wall if you have a fire in the tent. This is a ventilation solution that Tentipi has patented. It is the shape, ventilation and height of the tent that allows you to make an open fire or a stove in the tent, as the original users did. Just remember to be sure that you know how to handle the fire and that there are special occasions when it is not possible to make a fire or when it is inappropriate. Meet around the fire in the tent after the day's hike, at the evening's party with good friends and at other occasions when it's nice to have a sheltered place. The socialision around a fire is hard to beat and has always invited people to talk, tell stories and listen to their surroundings. It is wonderful to be able to warm up, cook and thrive together in protection from the forces of the weather and the insects that are on the move. Mosquito nets that contribute to the ventilation in the tent also protect from an invasion of insects. Thanks to the circular shape, everyone can see each other and the presence becomes extra strong.

The versatility is also evident through all the different uses of the tents. The various qualities that exist are used for more and for other things than Bengt Grahn could imagine when he founded Tentipi in 1989 (then the company was called Moskoselkåtan). Nordic tipis are made of cotton/polyester fabric and lightweight fabric. There are three different quality classes that all are at the forefront compared to other tents in their group of tent sizes. In the smallest tent in the Adventure assortment one can live two people and a dog. The largest of the range's tents can accommodate 15 people sleeping. But there is room for more people around the fireplace to sit and talk. You can raise the sides of the flex tents using telescopic poles to widen the view and let the surroundings into the tent. It will be a wind, sun and rain protected surface under a roof and with nature up close.

To these Nordic tipis you can also attach entrances of two kinds, a porch that builds a hallway outside the tent and a canopy in two sizes without walls but as a roof. The canopy can also be used independently to get wind protection.

There are a number of accessories that facilitate hiking, boat trips, car rides and horseback riding with camping and all occasions when you come together in a tent. Read more about these accessories at tentipi.com. There is also more information about Tentipi and all the Nordic tipis.
