Since Harold and Mariska took over the campsite five years ago, they have been committed to developing a unique and nature-focused experience for their guests. With a strong ecological profile and a passion for continuous improvement, they have created a destination that attracts visitors from all over Europe.
A campsite in harmony with nature
Naturcamping Lagom stands out from traditional, densely packed campsites where motorhomes line up in rows. Here, everything revolves around giving guests space and freedom—something particularly appreciated by visitors from the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland.
Glamping with Nordic tipis
When Harold and Mariska wanted to offer something beyond traditional campsites and cabins, they opted for a glamping solution that seamlessly blends into the natural surroundings. They built their first Nordic tipi, an Aurum 33, on a wooden platform in the forest, fully equipped with a double bed, kitchenette, dining area, and a cozy lounge space. On the same platform, they added a smaller Olivin 2 Nordic tipi, providing extra sleeping space and a fun hideaway for children. The investment was a success. "It’s all about the experience," says Harold.
”People can stay in a hotel for comfort or a hostel for simplicity, but they choose the Nordic tipi because it’s an unforgettable experience—and they’re happy to pay for it.”
Expanding with new concepts
After a successful first season, Harold and Mariska decided to expand. In the fall of 2024, they rented a Tentipi Cirrus 40 to host a gathering for Swedish overlanders—enthusiasts who travel with off-road vehicles. The event attracted around 40 vehicles and was a huge success. The Cirrus 40 served as a pop-up shop and meeting hub for participants.
Following the event, they realized the tent was a perfect fit for their vision. Instead of returning it, they decided to keep it and further expand their glamping business. Now, they plan to welcome larger families and groups of 5–6 people. With last year’s success behind them, they are confident that demand will continue to grow.
Tentipi – a reliable partner

Events and future visions
The campsite also features a Nimbus 16, which primarily serves as a gathering place where guests can enjoy coffee or play board games. However, several times per season it transforms into a stage for musicians, adding a vibrant touch to the otherwise peaceful campsite—an appreciated event for both campsite guests and the local community.
Daring to pursue ideas
Harold and Mariska have even bigger plans to develop their campsite and want to continue exploring new ways to use Nordic tipis to create unique guest experiences.
The journey from dreaming of a life closer to nature to running a successful campsite has been both exciting and challenging. Harold and Mariska took a leap from their previous careers and embraced the camping world with an open mind and a willingness to experiment with new ideas. "It’s incredibly fulfilling to test our ideas and see them work. Sometimes we look back and think, ‘Wow, we were brave,’ but we’re having so much fun. Life is too short not to pursue what you believe in.”
