The vision behind the brand

We were founded with a mission to make the best tents in the world, and to treat our customers, staff and the environment with respect.

Inspired by the Sami kåta

The Sami kåta is a simple cone-shaped frame of wooden poles covered with animal hides, with an opening at the top to let out smoke. Very quickly the nomadic reindeer-herding Sami people of northern Scandinavia had a wind-resistant home that was easy to keep warm.

Tentipi Nordic tipis are based upon the traditional design principles of the Sami kåta, coupled with innovative new design, and the latest materials and construction techniques.More about Sami people and culture >

Inventing Stratus™

It’s been an interesting journey over more than two decades.  From a moment of inspiration on the banks of a remote river in Lapland, to the unique shape, ingenious Swedish design, technical fabrics and modern engineering of our Stratus™ tipi today. We hope you enjoy the trip.

Use fire safely!

Use fire safely!

Most Tentipi® Nordic tipis are designed to be used with an open fire or stove; it is this feature that makes them a home from home in all weather conditions.
But please check local regulations, read and understand the instructions provided, and make sure you are fully competent to deal with the risks involved, before striking that match.
