Family camping canvas tent SafirFlex from Tentipi

Camping Tents for Adventure, Family Camping and Glamping

Tentipi invented the single pole Nordic tipi in 1989. Since then, we have developed premium tents that unite traditional design with modern function. Our Adventure tents are more than just shelter – they are a space for community, warmth, and memories. With breathable canvas, stormproof design, and stove compatibility, we offer a camping life like no other.

Canvas Camping Tents — More Than a Tent. A Portable Home.

A Tentipi tent is not just protection from the elements — it is a space where people gather, cook, rest, and share experiences.
Instead of crawling into a cramped shelter, you can stand upright, feel warmth from a fire or stove, and enjoy a comfortable indoor climate even when the weather changes.
For families, it creates security and togetherness.
For adventurers, it delivers reliability in demanding conditions.
That is why many owners describe their Tentipi Nordic tipi as the most important piece of equipment they own.

Why Canvas Changes the Camping Experience

Most modern tents are made from thin synthetic fabrics that trap moisture and create condensation. Temperature swings can be dramatic, and comfort often suffers. Tentipi’s cotton/polyester canvas combines durability with breathability, creating a significantly better indoor environment. Benefits: Breathable material that reduces condensation. Stable indoor climate in changing weather. High durability and long lifespan. Quieter in wind than lightweight fabrics. Comfortable for extended stays and all-season use. The result is not just shelter — it is livable space.

Designed for Real Life Outdoors

Outdoor life rarely happens in perfect weather. Wind shifts, temperatures drop, rain appears unexpectedly. Tentipi tents are developed in the Nordic climate, where reliability is essential. The conical construction with a central pole creates exceptional strength with minimal complexity — fewer parts mean fewer failure points. Key advantages: Exceptional wind stability. Fast setup even in harsh conditions. Efficient heat distribution when using a stove. Strong structure with low weight relative to space.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Can I use a stove inside the tent?

Yes. Most Tentipi tents are designed for safe stove use. The tents feature ventilation solutions that help control airflow and direct smoke outside. Always ensure compatibility and follow safety guidelines.

2. Is the tent suitable for winter camping?

Yes. Tentipi tents are built for year-round use and can handle demanding winter conditions. With proper ventilation and an internal heat source, they can remain comfortable even at low temperatures.

3. How many people can sleep in the tent?

Capacity depends on the model. Generally, Tentipi tents accommodate from 2 up to 15 people. Space can vary if a stove or extra equipment is used.

4. How long does it take to pitch a Tentipi Nordic tipi?

Once familiar with the setup, it can be pitched in 3–10 minutes. The central pole construction makes assembly quick and straightforward, even in harsh conditions.

5. Is the tent waterproof?

Yes. The fabric and seams are treated for water repellency. For best results, proper tensioning and routine maintenance are recommended.

6. Can I make an open fire on the ground inside the tent?

The tent can be used with a stove or an open fire. For safety reasons, a ground fire is not recommended, use our Hekla firebox.

7. What is the weight of the tent?

Weight varies by model. Lightweight versions are more suitable for trekking, while larger models are built for extended stays and more severe conditions. Due to their generous size, even our lightweight tents often weigh more than other types of tents. However, when the weight is shared between campers—or when a group would otherwise need two conventional tents—you gain not only comfort but also a weight advantage with a Tentipi tent.

8. Can the tent withstand strong winds?

Yes. The conical shape and strong construction are designed to perform well in strong winds. The storm cordes are normally not needed, but in severe weather they are recommended for added security.

9. What materials are used?

Tentipi tents use high-quality cotton/polyester blends or technical synthetic fabrics, depending on the model, to balance durability, weight and comfort. The cotton/polyester is breathable and gives a better climate than other tents.

10. Does the tent have good ventilation?

Yes. Ventilation is one of Tentipi’s signature features, helping to reduce condensation, maintain a comfortable climate and gives the opportunity to use a heat source.

11. Is the tent suitable for family camping?

Absolutely. Multiple sizes and accessories make Tentipi tents adaptable to families of all sizes.

12. What accessories are recommended?

Common accessories include stoves, floors, inner tent, porch and canopy. These can improve comfort and overall performance.

13. Can I use the tent in heavy rain or a thunderstorm?

Yes. The tent is built for challenging weather. Normal caution around lightning applies, as with all tents.

14. Is the tent easy to pack down?

Yes. The tent packs down quickly and compactly relative to its size. A storage bag is included.

15. What is a pyramid tent – and how does it relate to Tentipi?

A pyramid tent is a tent supported by a central pole with sloping sides meeting at the top. Tentipi’s Nordic tipi belong to this family, but are round rather than square and developed for Nordic outdoor use, fire safety and extreme weather.

16. How long does a Tentipi tent last?

Tentipi Nordic tipis are developed for many years of use, even in demanding environments and under varying conditions. We have great confidence in our materials, our construction and our craftsmanship, and the tents are also designed to be easy to repair when needed.

How long a tent lasts depends on how often it is used and how well it is cared for, but with proper maintenance a Tentipi tent can be used for a very long time — in many cases long enough to be passed down between generations.
