This apparently simple, but ingenious design by Bengt Grahn (founder of Tentipi) back in 1991, overcomes an age-old problem; how to stop rain from entering the top of a traditional Nordic tipi.
As with any great design, the radial frame solves a number of issues beyond making a Nordic tipi weatherproof.
Whilst being locked to the radial frame the main poles are hinged, making the job of raising and lowering the Nordic tipi very easy.
The Nordic tipi frame can be built manually, pole by pole, or even raised by a crane!
Little has changed with Bengt’s Radial Frame design since 1991. It’s hard to improve on perfection.
He did however add a feature one year later, to allow the poles to fit to the frame only one way…. the right way.
